A Story First
Let me start this blog post with a little story. I promise the story will tie into the purpose of this post – smile!
We have a lot of Christmas totes and bins that we pull down from the attic as we begin to prepare for the holidays each year. Bags of wrapping paper. Totes of garland. Bins of ornaments. Trees, trees and more trees. And so on. I bet some of you know exactly what I am describing here. However, there is one very special tote that my children get very excited to see each Christmas.
You see, every year my husband climbs way up the attic stairs and digs around the piles up there until he finds THE ONE tote that comes down first … always. Up in the rafters above our home lives a bin of Christmas books he and I have collected for our children over the past 16 years. When they were younger they would wait at the bottom of the attic stairs with such excitement as Dad passed the tote to me and I, in turn, passed it down the ladder stairs to our oldest. The three of them would sit right there with the attic door above them and rip into the collection of Christmas classics as they laughed and giggled and read while Mark and I continued to bring out all of the decorations.
This tote includes classics like Silent Night and The 12 Days of Christmas. In fact, some of these books are as old as I am because they were mine from when I was a child. And, even though my kids are older now (11, 14, 16), they still get excited when they see that same red snowflake fabric Christmas bin full of the books that they have read over and over through the years. Oh what a treat that is for a parent to see!
I Get Excited Too
So, just like my kids who still get excited over their Christmas books, I too have a few books that I can not wait to tear into once the holiday bins come down! Even though I have read some of these books several times over the years, I still enjoy slowly flipping through each and every page, taking in all of the pictures and articles. They still continue to inspire me. With that, I am sharing my 5 Christmas books that I am loving right now with you all today.
A Very Vintage Christmas
This is a book that I have only had for a few years but I am so glad that I do. It is a sort of Vintage Christmas ‘handbook’ that really dives into all the things I love about vintage Christmas. After only a few minutes reading this book, I could tell right away that Bob, the author of this book, shares the exact same passion for vintage Christmas that I do and that so many of you do!

The Farm Chicks Christmas
For many years, each fall I would attend the Country Living fair in Stone Mountain, GA. One year, they were selling this book under the big gathering area. I was so excited to buy it and get inspiration for all the things inside. I actually got two copies, one for me and one for my good friend Carla. It was one of the first books that really inspired me with new ways to display my collections. I have shared this book before on IG, but I am sharing it again here for those who may have missed it. Sadly, the Country Living Fair is no longer being held in Georgia, but this book will always be one of my favorite purchases from that event.

The Vintage Christmas Cookbook
This book includes 25 recipes, one for each day of December leading up to Christmas day and they are sure to remind you of your childhood! Even more fun (to me) is that this little cookbook not only shares recipes but also pictures of vintage Christmas finds. It is the perfect combo for us vintage lovers!

Ok, so …. I need to come clean! I don’t actually have this book in my hand at the moment! But – the good news is that it is on the way to my house right now and I am so excited to get it. I will share it with you in my IG stories when it arrives – but as far as I can tell, it is going to be a good one. Anything that has to do with vintage Christmas from long ago has my heart. There are other books like this out there too – and I will link a few below, but I am somehow excited for this one to get here! Maybe it is the name – ha!

The Night Before Christmas
In my heart I feel that it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t include just ONE classic Christmas book in this list. Yes, my heart really does love the vintage Christmas decor books, but the classics will always have my heart too. You can click here to see additional Christmas Classics as well. Which one is your favorite?

We have always had a basket of Christmas books too! The boys would get so excited! Though they are older now, I still put that basket under the tree just in case they want to flip through them.

I love this. I think we will have our basket out forever as well. Maybe grandkids will enjoy them one day far down the line!!!! LOL

Oh I love this idea! I have a nice collection of Christmas books I enjoy as well. I think I’ll gather them into a basket all together & set them under our Christmas tree.

Yes!!! DO it! Our kids love them – and it is heartwarming to see them flipping through – even when they are older!
