With Thanksgiving only a few days away, I thought it would be nice to share a few of the things that will be on our Thanksgiving Day table this year in our home. Now, if I am being honest, I do not formally set our table very often. BUT, there are a few times every year when I do try to create an inviting and meaningful table setting for our little family and Thanksgiving is one of those times.
With that in mind, today I am sharing things that we have used year after year for our family Thanksgiving celebrations. I do not really have a firm plan for our table this year, but there are a few things that I know for sure that will be on there. And, of course, there is a story behind each of the things I am including!
Blue And White Dishes
I thought I would start the list off with arguably the most important part of the table, the dishes. Each Thanksgiving I pull out my blue and white set. This pattern is Johnson Brothers Coaching Scenes and you will never believe where I got them. I picked this 8 pice place setting up way back in 2014 at a yard sale for $20.00 – for all of them. I can vividly remember being overwhelmed with joy when I found them – it was such a steal. I did have to order a few more pieces online to complete the set (there were a few salad plates missing), but I love these dishes so much.
Thrifted Glasses
During the early days of my reselling career, I picked up a set of 36 vintage glasses. I believe that I paid only a few bucks for all of them – and that was indeed a score too. I really like these thrifted glasses because the glass is very thick and I don’t have to worry about them breaking easily, which is a good thing for kids.
Grandma’s Silver
I have fond memories of using our family silver for special occasions when I was younger. And now, I have the privilege of using it with my family. Some years I pull it all out (including all the place settings) and some years I only pull out the serving pieces. Either way, having some old family silver on the table helps to make the meal even more memorable.
Cloth Napkins
Who was here last year when Cooper went live and did a napkin folding tutorial?! You guys, he is really good at folding napkins! Cooper already knows that he will be in charge of folding these cloth napkins in a special way for our Thanksgiving meal!
Candles
I was recently gifted a box of beautiful candles from my friend Rob. As soon as I opened the box I just knew that they would be the perfect addition to our family Thanksgiving table! I love these deep rich colors and they just really remind me of Thanksgiving!

Wrap Up
This list reminds me of that wedding saying, “something old, something new, something vintage, and something blue!” (Of course I had to put my own spin on it.). But in all seriousness, I want to know – what do you include on your table for Thanksgiving? Do you have any items that appear year after year?
