For some reason, fall feels like a fresh start for me. It seems like each year, the moment the temperature dips below 85 here in Georgia, I begin thinking about adding just a few fall touches around the house. With that in mind and with cooler temperatures on the way, I thought I would share with you a couple of the pieces I plan to highlight first for this Fall Season. I am excited to share with you 6 vintage items for Fall and my hope is that you have at least one of the following vintage treasures in your home already!
Wood Base: Chippy or Not
I love all things time worn and chippy and I really love adding touches of salvaged wood around my home. One easy way to do just that is to pop your favorite fall candle right on top of a cool salvaged piece. It certainly helps to elevate the interest of a simple candle and the chippy warm wood tones are a nod to the fall season!
Tarnished Silver Vessels
I know this may seem a little elementary, but I promise, a few touches of tarnished silver can add such a fun fall vibe. Specifically, I like to use old silver cups during this season and fill them with all sorts of “fall-ish” bits and bobs! From sticks to feathers to wheat stems – nothing is off limits. I will also stuff old tarnished silver trophies with fall florals. I love the engraved writing on old trophies and I feel like they really do add so much interest. In addition, around the Halloween season, I typically showcase a large grouping of tarnished silver candelsticks – all together – on a shelf with drippy candles! Tarnishe
TOOLBOX TRAY
Toolbox trays are so very versatile, and I use them during any season as a means to add a little “industrial feel”. For fall, I usually toss some great smelling potpourri into a tray. I am sure to choose potpourri that not only smells like fall, but that also is full of texture and visual interest.
OLD BOOKS
There are a million ways to style old books, but during the fall season, I always showcase the ones with covers and bindings that have fall colors such as deep red and orange. Also, I look for books that have interesting “fall” graphics on the covers. I recently found a little squirrel book and that got me excited because squirrels just “scream” fall to me. Don’t be afraid to use some of the fall books around the house a risers! That’s always a easy way to work them into any space!
VINTAGE TINS
I incorporate old tins into my home often and in all sorts of ways but during the fall season, I use them to hold floral arrangements of all kinds. From fresh to dried to faux – I love the way these old rusty tins add interest. I also love just showcasing a vintage tin all by itself. For the fall season, I look for ones with great fall graphics (think leaves) or great fall colors (think orange).
AMBER BOTTLES
These bottles have been all the rage the past several years! They are quite pretty and their brown hue really screams fall! I enjoy styling these both in large groupings and individually – depending on the look I am going for! While I love them all, I particularly love the old ones that have embossing! These really do stand out and of course, they tend to be older which I prefer. Quick tip, if you don’t have any amber bottles on hand at the moment, you can easily begin your collection by going to the grocery store and buying a few amber bottles there – think molasses and extract bottles! Below, you can see where I combined both an older embossed bottle and a small new vanilla extract bottle.
Odds are that if you are here then you are a vintage lover. If you are a vintage lover then hopefully you have a few of these things hanging out around your home already and hopefully you can easily incorporate one or two of these ideas into your fall decor. I hope you enjoyed these 6 vintage ideas for fall and I am excited to share more ideas with you as we begin to welcome the in the fall season.

My grandmother had a sunroom that had shelves across the windows and she collected glass bottles to put on them. She didn’t have a lot of money but she had an eye for things that I’m still loving now! I treasure the amber bottles she had and can never quite make myself add any more to my collection because I want to be able to remember which ones were hers.
