I am so excited to be sharing a few of my favorite things from around the web this week. From recipes to history, I plan to fill this post with things that inspired me this week – things that I found interesting and amazing. I hope you enjoy!
Random Facts
1. This week I learned that candy corn was originally called Chicken Feed? Candy Corn originated in the 1880s and “because corn is what was used to feed chickens, the creation was called “Chicken Feed” and the original box was marked with a colorful rooster.” I had no idea until this week that this was the case!
2. This week I bought a crinkled up black tin lunchbox for $10.00. I adore this sweet new addition and it made me think …. when was the first lunch box made? The answer, according to Google, is around the 1880s. During that time children began making their own lunch boxes out of their parents empty tobacco and biscuit tins. Companies began to take note and by 1902 they began making tins with handles attached. This was the first lunchbox designed specifically for kids.
3. This week I have a gurley candle tip for you. I have loved Gurley candles forever and while I prefer the old ones, several years ago The Vermont Country Store purchased the molds for them and now reproduce them.
4. This week on the blog I shared my second Vintage Halloween Roundup and an easy DIY Corn Cob Garland and my favorite 2020 Anthropology Holiday pieces.

LOVE Urbane Brown. I first sampled this color in 2018 ( i think, may have been 2019) wanted it for our bedroom but it was vetoed. (: I’m a fan of anything brown, it’s my favorite color, so I’m really happy beiges and browns of all shades are making a big comeback! I also pre-ordered Kim’s book, I was a big fan of City Farmhouse Style and can’t wait to get my hands on her new book. And girl! you found some crazy good stuff! Love the stroll through the internet. Good stuff!
