As we step into 2021 I am excited to share the list of antiques I will be searching for this year. I am also sharing things YOU are looking for as well.
As you all may know by now, I really enjoy shopping for things old and weathered. Most of the decor in my home is old because I prefer to have pieces that are both beautiful and that tell a story. Pieces like this take a little more work to find, but that is what makes them even more special to me. Also, I love the thrill of the hunt!
I love to stroll the aisles of antique malls and dig through barns and bid at country auctions. I love thrift stores and estate sales – shoot, I have found some of my best finds at yard sales. Any way that I can find them, I love hunting for and finding really good antiques and vintage pieces. I bet you do too! I thought it would be fun to share with you a few of the antiques that I am searching for this year. I am excited to see what 2021 will have in store.
What I Am Huntin’
Huge Old Crock
While I have a ton of smaller ones, I do not yet have a really big stoneware crock. I am on the hunt for one this year, like a 10 or 12 gallon one such as this, to put an indoor plant in!
Bleached Pine Piece Of Furniture
During the holidays, I shuffled some furniture around and now I have an empty wall that I am excited to fill! But, I have no plans to rush it. I want to take my time and find just the right piece. Bleached pine is weathered look that I keep my eye out for. Recently, I purchased this old one that we keep upstairs. I love the bare wood and all the characteristics that it shows! I know another bleached pine piece will find me soon.
Old Wooden Churn Lids
Last year I hung a few churn lids on the wall in the upstairs hallway. I am excited to add to that collection. I hope to be able to add to add an entire second row! If you want to see what these look like then click here.
Adirondack Pack Basket
I have been searching fo the perfect shoulder pack to hang on the wall. I want to hang one on the wall or possibly on a door and I want to display greenery inside it. I have heard people refer to these as gathering baskets or shoulder packs. Either way, I want one. If you do not know what an Adirondack Pack is then click here to see!
Jugs
Weathered glass jugs are always on my list, but this year I really want to find a few that are just the right size to tuck into my cabinets upstairs. I hope to be able to find a few and I plan to lay them on their sides. I know, you may have to see it to understand my vision – Ha! You can click here to see what I am searching for. (One of my main tips here is to search for ones that do NOT have thread marks for a screw top!)
Green Stoneware Bowls
After restyling one of my cabinets today, I have decided that I will be searching for more green stoneware bowls. I love the color so very much! I don’t see them so very much so I will enjoy the challenge! You can click here to see exactly what I am looking for.
While I am certainly not limiting myself to this list, these are a few of the things I am hoping to find this year to add to my personal collection. Because I own an antique booth and my Instagram account is centered around stying vintage items, I am always searching for antiques. These are simply the antiques that I am searching for this year that are at the top of my list and that I really want to add to my personal collection.
As I was thinking about which antiques I will be searching for this year, I began to wonder what some of YOU are hoping to find in 2021. I simply had to share this reply because it is so true!!!
“It finds me. I will know when I see it.”
I have said this so many times!
What Pops Is Hunting:
If you are new to My Weathered Home then you may not know Pops. He is my dad and he is the only person I seriously pick with – with the exception of my mom of course. I have been junkin’ with my dad since I was about 15 years old and we always have a great time. He is so knowledgeable and is always quick to help me determine if a piece is ‘worth it!’ I asked him what he would be hunting this year and here is his reply.
“I’m looking for whatever I happen to be collecting at the time. One good new find can redirect my interest in a heartbeat. As of today, I’d be excited to find another early 8-bubble 7up bottle to go with the one you got me for Christmas. Any old wooden or metal soda bottle crate would also be high on my list today. Old soda bottles have been a main interest of mine for years. My newest collections are old wooden fishing lures and vintage pre-1980s license plates. I’ll surely be looking for more of these as well in 2021 and beyond.”
As you can tell, Pops doesn’t have a real focus … he loves it all … just like me!
Wrap Up:
I am so excited to see what 2021 will bring to us all. My hope is to be able to get back out there and really knock out some serious hunting again in this. new year. And, if history repeats itself, then I will find a lot more than just what is on this little list! I plan to circle back to this post at the end of the year and to see if I managed to find what is on my list. We will see if you found your items as well. Cheers to happy hunting my friends! I can not wait!

Delightful blog- knowing others feel this way about preserving these treasures small and large brings me joy. I especially love the “ common persons “ daily wares . I can almost feel the energy of the breadmaking in the bowls , the sweat of the children on a summer day at the beach holding the old sandpail. I treasure these items that were used by generation after generation until they finally end up at a sale to enjoy a new lease on life . We are all guardians of history – a chippy , worn, and faded history but nevertheless important to keep the lights burning . 🙂 happy hunting -Laura Meath (@thenextchspterone) Instagram

I love to hear what you’re up to Emily! And I love to hear about Pops. My birthday was Monday so my hubby took me to one of our favorite antique malls. I scored a rare Scottish Buttercup Dairy crock for half the price of what I found it listed for!!! It is beautiful & I am just thrilled with it. Happy Hunting!!!
