Valentine’s Day cards can add a nice touch to your home but sometimes it can be hard to figure out just how to display them. I am sharing a few Valentine Display Ideas below. Come see these quick and easy ways to display your Valentine’s Day cards.
A few days ago, I shared a list of the vintage Valentine’s Day goodies you should be looking for NOW. You can see that post here. Included in that list were actual vintage Valentine’s Day cards. You can easily shop for these cards online or at your local antique stores.
Since sharing that blog post, I have been asked quite a few times, “how do you display your old valentine cards.” Below, I am going to share a few quick and easy Valentine Display Ideas that have worked for me over the years!
Flower Frogs
One of the easiest ways to display your vintage valentines is to use a flower frog. The original intention of a flower frog was to sit at the bottom of a vase to hold up flowers. Today, these frogs are used to hold up a variety of things. These cleaver little frogs have spiky ‘teeth’ that are placed very close together and they easily hold these cards (and any sort of light weight item) upright! You can find old flower frogs here and you can find brand new flower frogs here.
Tarnished Silver Forks
This is a very inexpensive and quick way to display your valentines. Simply take a fork and bend it! But – beware – you want to choose a fork that has a flat handle so that it sits flush on the table. If not, your fork will be wobbly and will not stand upright! Also, I prefer old antique forks that are tarnished – but you could use a newer one as well! You can find old tarnished forks here.
Hang Them Using Clips or Clothes Pins
Whether you want to hang your valentines from a piece of twine or on a section of chicken wire, clothes pins and clips are always a good option! These clips make it so easy to create all sorts of valentine displays! You can find mini clothes pins here.
Tuck Them In Here And There
The fact that valentines tend to be small allows for endless possibilities. My all time favorite way to display these cards is by simply tucking them into all sorts of places. At the top of this post, I used tucked in my cards into an old tobacco basket. Here, I used an old set of drawers! Securing these sweet little cards in various locations around your house is so very easy to do! The only hard part here is making sure NOT to damage the cards.
Let Them Lean
This may be the most economical way of all the valentine display ideas. Simply lean your card (or a bunch of cards to make a statement) up against something to easily add a valentine touch. Tip: This works best in a ‘low traffic’ area so that the breeze of someone walking past doesn’t knock down (and damage) any cards.
Toss Them In a Bowl or Dish
Another very simple and easy way to display your Valentines is to arrange them in a beautiful bowl or dish. My go-to is always ironstone. I love the contrast between the white ironstone and bright colors of the Valentines. It helps to really make them pop! You can find ironstone options here.
Vintage Stands
While these may not work for actual valentine cards, these old metal store stands work perfectly for vintage postcards. I was thrilled to discover that they are the perfect size for old postcards and they also protect them a bit as well. You can find a store display sign here.
Wrap Up
Whether you have one or many, Valentine’s Day cards are quite sweet and charming. Being able to display them in a way that works in your home will help you to enjoy them even more. I hope that these valentine display ideas help you to add a few to your home. Happy Valentine’s Day!
