Kitchen Tip
This week we decided to cook our favorite dinner – Chili. You can find our favorite chili recipe here. But this time we used a ‘new-to-us’ kitchen tool that I can not believe that we didn’t own before. Do you own one of these? If not, it may just change your life in the kitchen!
A New Television Show
I have a little secret – I really enjoy watching a good thriller television series. And, this week, Mark and I discovered a brand new one. Servant is a nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat thriller from M. Night Shyamalan. You can find Servant here on Apple TV.
Have You Heard
Have you ever heard a sea chanty before? A sea chanty is a sort of ‘work song’ created by sailors that was used to ‘entertain’ while working. In addition, sea chanteys were used to coordinate people who are working together to improve the efficiency of their work. I promise, you are going to want to hear this. Sea chanteys are now being sung on TikTok. Click here to check out the latest sea chanty – I can NOT stop listening! I now want to go sailing!
*Important to note, there are several ways to spell “chanty.’ You will find it spelled several ways, but from what I found, CHANTY was the most common version!
A Problem We Might Share
I am ALWAYS cold during the winter. From November to March it seems that I rarely am comfortable, unless I wear lots and lots of layers. Even then, it seems that I have a hard time warming up! I do have a few things that I use around the house in an attempt to stay comfortable and I thought I would share them with you here – just in case you are always cold – like me! Simply tap the arrow below (left side and right side) to see a few of the items that I use all the time during the winter. (FYI – The rice heating pads are my ‘go-to’ every morning!)
A Lesson I Learned This Week
If you follow me on Instagram and if you tune into my stories then you know that this week we celebrated Porter’s 11th Birthday. I was so excited to make the day special for him and in an attempt to do that, I decided to ‘decorate’ my car for him. Now, I did this while he was in school because I wanted to surprise him in the carpool line at pick-up. I used a white window marker (you can see a similar one here) to write all over the car windows! I was so proud of my work and I thought he was going to LOVE it! Well, let me tell you something! He did NOT love it. When I pulled up to get him at school his face went “FLAT.” No emotion. None. He was so upset with me initially that he did NOT want to get in the car when I pulled up at school. After we got home he explained that he wasn’t comfortable with all that attention and while he did say he appreciated my effort, he admitted that he was mortified. I did apologize and we giggled about it later that evening but I learned something that day – do NOT assume anything with your kiddos as they get older! Even on their birthdays!

Hi Emily. I got up early this morning and read your blog about starting a booth. I have just retired and would love to do this, but it seems daunting. I also think about all the cool things I’ve collected over the years and parted with when we moved from our family home to a two bedroom condo. My daughter and I love to Thrift and go to Estate Sales. Anyways, I have one of those tools for breaking up meat. Got Ait at a Pampered Chef party years ago and use it all the time. I so enjoy reading all you share. Keep up the good work.
Happy Tuesday! Love, Judy
