You don’t need a whole lot to create an easy St. Patrick’s Day table – all you need are a few shamrocks to create this simple shamrock tablescape!
Creating The Look
If you follow my Instagram stories, then you know that I have been on the hunt for real shamrocks for a while now! Luckily, I finally found them at our local grocery store this week! I was so excited to find them and add them into my home as we all gear up to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. After a little bit of playing around, I just settled on this simple shamrock tablescape. I am excited to be sharing a few of the details of this space with you here on the blog!
I rarely do an elaborate tablesacpes on this table because we use our kitchen table all day long. We like to keep things simple! This is where we eat all of our meals, play games, do homework, pay the bills, etc …. You get the idea!
Even though it is an active spot, I do like to doll this table up from time to time. When I do, I usually always start with this small rug from Ikea as the base. I love using the rug as a base because I can easily slide the ‘tablescape’ to one end of the table when it’s time for dinner or we need the space to work.
I layered a simple old board (that I found at an estate sale for a few bucks) on top of the Ikea rug and then placed a dough bowl on top to that. (You can read more about this really old dough bowl and see what year it was made here.) I like that the board give some additional height but also helps to transition the rectangular rug to the oval bowl. The wood grains also add some additional texture and tie to the table top. Then, I just popped in the shamrocks. I did use an oven mitt to help the plants sit more level!!!
I decided to add my vintage green shakers and the little plant mister just to make it more interesting. I love the way the green shakers play off of the green in the shamrocks!
See this Shamrock Tablescape really was super simple to do!
Why Not Add A Few To The Side As Well
It was a no brainer to tuck in a few extra shamrocks along side of our table. Once I found them I was so excited – I couldn’t just buy one! I popped this really beautiful purple shamrock into a crock and I love the color contrast! The vintage rolling pins add a little height to the space as well. Once I stood back I could really see how the neutral color of the crock made the purple POP! I have not seen a purple shamrock before (I didn’t know it was a thing!!) but I like how the color adds a little ‘something’ to all the greens of St. Patrick’s Day.
In addition to the crock, I also added a green shamrock right on top of a great old cutting board that I got at a local estate sale. I believe this old cutting board was used for cheese, but I’m using it as a riser to help the shamrock stand tall. The shamrock is sitting in this green planter from Michaels that I picked up a little while ago. Once I saw the planter, I knew I needed it for St. Patrick’s Day so keep your eyes open for styling ideas as you’re out and about. I added the shamrock and cutting board to a side table by the window. The green in the morning sun really adds a lot to the entire area.

Shamrock Tablescape Wrap Up
I love playing around with seasonal decor and I really enjoy it when the process involves plants! This was a very easy way to add a little Luck Of The Irish to our home! And it didn’t involve a whole lot. Sometimes super simple is just what we need!
P.S.
I had a really hard time finding shamrocks this year! I am considering buying these Shamrock bulbs for next season so that I have some ready to go!
