Yesterday was a big day for us here at My Weathered Home. Mark and I made the first big “choice” regarding our kitchen renovation. We picked out our countertops and I couldn’t love them any more. With the help of my designer friend, Missy, I decided to go with Montauk Quartz and I am so happy with the choice! After making this huge decision, Mark and I are so excited to begin making more choices! Here are 5 things that we are crushing on for our new kitchen right now! While we haven’t yet made all of our purchases, I felt it would be fun to show you the direction we are leaning towards!
Thor Range
One of the big changes that we are making in the kitchen is removing the cooktop and replacing it with a range. It is going to require a bit of ‘moving things around,’ but we are excited about the change! My husband is the best and leaves so many of the “design” decisions up to me because he truly likes most anything. However, I asked if he would choose our new range. He loves to cook and I want to make sure that he has all the bells and whistles that he wants when it comes to cooking our meals moving forward. Mark is crushing on this Thor range!
Cast Iron Sink
This is high on my wishlist for sure! However, because we are not getting new cabinets, I knew that adding in a farmhouse sink would require us to do some work on the cabinets that the sink fits on! Yesterday, when we were at the store picking out our counters, our Sales Associate mentioned this Kohler cast iron self-trimming apron sink. How awesome is this – no cabinet modifications needed for this one!
Faucet For The Sink
There really are a million options here – but I really do love the look and feel of this kitchen faucet. I would be sure to choose the brass option though! I can only imagine how the brass will age over time and I love the idea of having that weathered feel around a new farmhouse sink!
Range Hood
I have to admit that Mark and I have not really given the range hood a whole lot of thought yet. But, we did agree that we liked something simple. He and I are both leaning towards this look. What do you think?
Cabinet Pulls
Keep in mind that we are going to be painting our kitchen cabinets white! With that in mind, I am crushing on these brass pulls at the moment. That may change …. I have some time. But, I like that they are simple and straight forward.
Wrap Up
This kitchen renovation has been in the works for quite some time. We began saving for it years ago and we feel blessed to be able to have the chance to make these changes. I know that a kitchen renovation is not for the weak and I am already packing my patients – they took out our existing counters today so as of now we have no sink, stove, or seating at the bar. But, I know it will be worth it all in the end. I am sharing my journey over in storied on Instagram if you want t follow along with me over there! I will be giving another update soon – stay tuned!
P.S.
I know that we are only a few days into this renovation, but I really can not stop thinking about how I am going to style this new kitchen! You know how I love ‘smalls’ and I am already dreaming of all the things (old and new) that I would love to incorporate. Here are some of my favorites!

Beautiful items for your kitchen redo. We did similar last year and got new items but kept our existing wood cabinets to save money. We had standard oak and I used Briwax on them to deepen the color. We have a farmhouse sink and would totally recommend. You will love it. Seems like your husband is handy enough that he could make your vent hood cover. Cannot wait to see the end result.
