While many moms certainly do anticipate and appreciate a little extra attention and few extra hugs and kisses on Mother’s Day, I think it is fair to say that many moms also appreciate a gift or two as well on their special day. Let’s face it, Mother’s Day (along with birthdays and Christmas) is a perfectly acceptable time of the year to let our loved ones know what we would love to “receive.” And, I know for a fact that my family appreciates a little guidance and a good wish list to shop from.

While I love new things from the typical stores around town, it should come as no surprise that I also love a good vintage item for a gift as well. Perhaps there is a special mom in your life that also likes to receive vintage goodies on special occasions as well.

Vintage Shopping Trip For Mother’s Day

Why not take her on a little outing antiquing in your local community. You could start with a nice brunch and then hit up a few of the local antique shops in your area! Let her pick out a special gift while you are out shopping – that way, she will always remember the day when she looks at her gift in the future! You could end the afternoon with a little cup of coffee and recap all of the shopping that you did! This sounds like a perfect afternoon to me – and an added bonus is that you would also be supporting small businesses in your community as well.

I realize that not everyone has a great antique shop within driving distance from their home. I also realize that not all the moms out there are able to get out easily for a day of shopping. Your mom may love the idea of a vintage gift to celebrate but it may just be impossible to make it happen! What about sharing a virtual shopping trip? I have done this before with my own mother who wanted to pick out a vintage gift for herself but didn’t want to leave the house because of the pandemic. I realized that with the help of the computer, I could take her on a virtual vintage shopping trip! We simply sat down together and began shopping – online!

Shopping online for anything can be hard, including vintage items. You may not know where to start or what to even look for. I know that I prefer shopping in person because I like to browse … but that isn’t really possible of you are shopping virtually. With that in mind, I thought I would share a few “vintage gift ideas” to help get you started. Below, I am sharing 5 vintage items that I think your mom may love! Escargot Pots

These tiny little pots are so sweet and would be perfect to use as risers or simply to stack on a shelf for interest. My thought is that you mom might like that they are smaller (especially if she is ‘downsizing’ – ha!) but also really unique and interesting.

Onion Boards

I love my charming little onion board. I love the petite size (they are a bit smaller than your typical cutting board) and I love the charm of these old ones. I bet your mom will love these as well!

Old Stoneware Bottles

With or without labels, these old stoneware bottles are so so cool! I love the fact that no two are alike and I love to display them on a shelf for interest. I have even used them in the past as bud vases!

Mixing Bowls

Old mixing bowls might just be my very favorite thing to collect. I have them in all sorts of colors and sizes and I use them for so many times. Lately I have enjoyed putting plants in them – I bet your mom would like that too!

Pie Birds

This is a new obsession of mine and I think that pie birds ( while useful when it comes to baking) are so charming when sitting on a shelf! Do you have a mom that enjoys birds? This might be a great gift for her that she didn’t even know she wanted!
