Thinking about decorating for fall? I have a cozy fall corner nook that is sure to inspire you to pull out those fall pieces and get to work!
This cozy fall corner nook is the perfect way to cozy up your space for the cooler months. With just a few simple pieces, you can create a cozy and inviting nook that will make you feel right at home.
Over the years I have found that decorating your home does not have to be complicated or time-consuming! And with that in mind, yesterday I created this cozy fall corner nook in no time! I wanted to ‘ease into fall’ in this space so I decided to stick with fall themed pieces in neutral colors. I used organic pieces like leaves, gourds, and pinecones and layered these items into this space ever so slightly!
Obviously, the star of this little fall nook is this antique dresser that I purchased at an estate sale earlier this year for $80.00! I thought it would be the perfect piece for this nook, not only because of it’s smaller size, but also because the mirror helps to bounce off a little extra light in the back corner of this room. It certainly helps to add more ‘natural light’ to this space which is a great thing! I sanded it down myself and I am so happy with how it turned out – I feel it is now the perfect color to display all of these fall goodies!
In addition to the sweet little dresser, this wood wall pocket that I recently found serves as the perfect piece to fill in a little of the blank space on the wall back in the nook! I actually now have two of these little wood wall pockets and I have found that they are perfect opportunity to add a touch seasonal decor to any wall!
Another fun thing that I added in this cozy fall corner nook was to layer in some ‘fall colored’ bottle brush trees! I have to admit that I really do like to add an unexpected piece when I am styling my spaces and I think that these ‘orange’ bottle brush trees (usually used during Christmas) paired perfectly with my vintage Roseville vase. (You can find similar fall trees here.)
But, of all the things in this little nook, I think this huge gourd is my favorite. Gourds are a perfect and inexpensive fall element to use in your home and I love them because they come in a variety of colors and shapes and they can be used in a number of different ways. Here, I simply placed the gourd on a table top and that was it! Super simple. I love adding these types of natural elements to use in my house and I was so tickled to find this huge (and clean) one last year!
Quick Tip:
Do you ever find dried gourds that are kind of dirty and full of those pesky dark brown spots – well, let me share with you my process for cleaning them!
- Soak that gourd in a sink full of water and about 1/4 a cup of bleach or hydrogen peroxide for about a half an hour.
- Use something heavy to keep them submerged and under water. Someone suggested a wet towel online and that worked for me!
- Use a good quality ‘scrubbie” and scrub the gourds to remove the skin.
- Scrape off stubborn mold using some elbow grease!
- Let your gourd dry well in the sun and then simply sand off any leftover skin.
- Add any kind of seal/stain/varnish you like or leave as is. I usually just leave mine “as is.”
I also gathered some other small antique collections to my nook like this book stack, these old clocks, and these old books and bottles. Layering in these mini collections helps to add interest and keeps the space ‘moving’ so to speak – so that not ALL of the items in the space are about fall. As you can tell, I am really loving pinecones this year – you can click here for more pinecone inspo!
