In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, I am sharing 5 of my very favorite vintage green items in and around my home! I feel “LUCKY” to have them all for sure!
My Green Bread Box
This great green bread box is the perfect pop of color in our kitchen area. I found it with Pops (my daddy) a while back. We were out on a picking adventure in Alabama and when I spotted it – I just knew it was special. I had plans to add it to my vintage booth but I just couldn’t bring myself to sell it. Can you blame me? For now, this cool green piece staying in my kitchen and I get to enjoy it everyday! Lucky me!
My Green Watering Can
This may just be my very favorite vintage garden piece that I have ever found. As with so many of the things that I cherish, the story behind finding this one really adds to my love for it. Maybe 6 years ago, after driving down a long dirt road, I ended up on a small farm. This home was packed with so many goodies and the homeowner was downsizing. As I walked around, I noticed there was an orchard of trees and up high in one of them, I spotted this can hanging from a branch. I asked the gentleman how much he water for it. He replied, “if you can get it down you can have it.” I have never climbed a tree so fast! This watering can stays out on the porch year round and it always makes me smile when I see it.
My Green Cupboard
If you know me by now then you know that this green cupboard, that I affectionally refer to as ‘The Jolly Green Giant,’ is probably one of my favorite pieces ever. A few years back, when I had an antique booth in a shop called Spoon Sisters, I laid eyes on this primitive beauty. It was love at first sight and I just knew I had to have it. This sucker sits right by the front door and it is the perfect statement piece for our home. I love to fill it with all of my favorite finds and right now I have it loaded down with all of my ironstone. It makes a perfect display piece. It also has a ton of storage and I use it to hide a lot of seasonal things. I really do love this big green cupboard.
My Green Bowls
A few weeks ago, I shared a blog post describing a few of the things that I will be searching for in 2021. There I shared that I would be on the lookout for a few more green bowls. The few that I do have are so delightful and I would love to add a few more to my collection. I have managed to find them for a good price at local shops – and I have even been gifted a few – but I still want to add in a few more.
My Green Scale
I know this may not seem like a huge deal, but I do love my little green vintage kitchen scale. I actually have quite a few scales, but the green one really is my favorite. It really goes with anything in the kitchen, and like the bread box above, it adds a pop pf color. I snagged this old scale a few years back at a local estate sale for $12.00. I think it is fair to say that that was twelve dollars well spent!
