I am excited to be introducing a new series called Fridays at 5:00. Here I plan to do a quick share of 5 things that inspire me each week such as brands, food, people, products, ideas, etc… anything really! I want this series to be a place where I mention things that I enjoy and that I feel you will enjoy as well! From the music that I am currently loving to the meals that we’re currently cooking, I plan to share a wide variety of things here. My hope is that this weekly blog series -which I will post every Friday around 5:00 EST- will be a fun and interesting weekly read for each of you.
What better way to kick off my new series than by sharing my 5 favorite finds from my first shopping trip of 2021! A few days ago I ventured to a well known and long standing local antique market here in the South. Scott Antique Market is an Atlanta institution of sorts and has been around for years. While I was there I managed to find a lot of exciting vintage goodies and I want to share my five favorite purchases with you!
Old Ledgers
These old ledgers were such a find! If you are not familiar with them, ledgers are filled with lined paper and businesses used them long ago to track the details of their day to day financial transactions. I always enjoy flipping through the pages of these old books – the information they hold really does take you back to a simpler time!
Cow Canvas
OK, so I realize this ins’t truly a vintage goodie, but Scott Antique Market is a mix of old and new! When I saw this sweet cow canvas I feel in love. I am not quite sure why, but there was just something about this cow that drew me in. The best part – I actually bought two of these portraits (they are slightly different) and the price was unbeatable!
Grape Harvesting Basket
I was so happy to find this really interesting gathering basket. It still has the original straps used to wear it on your shoulders. I love the smaller size and the weathered imperfections. I can’t help but wonder who wore this in the past and exactly how many times this basket has been filled to the top!
Bird Tin
I love a good graphic and this little bird caught my eye the second I saw her! This Song Food tin used to contain food for canaries and would have been filled with a blend of seeds and other ingredients. While it was just a simple day to day item long ago, this Song Food tin will now be used as spring/summer decor in my home!
Cutting Board
I have been on the hunt for a large, old, affordable cutting board for our home for a while now. I was tickled to find this one! It is mended at the top and the bottom and has a large split right down the middle. But to me, those scares do not diminish the beauty rather the imperfections add desirable character!
P.S.
For those of you wondering, you can click here to see the show dates for 2021 and to gather more information about Scott Antique Market. Remember, this is a show that is a mix of both old and new, so be prepared to see both! Happy hunting!

That Hartz Mountain tin brought back so many memories of the parakeets we had when I was young. Great find!
