My Trip To Terrain

Have you ever walked into a store for the first time and instantly felt blown away by all of its beauty? Let me tell you about my trip to Terrain.

If you are drawn to interesting pieces that you can add to your home or garden then you may want to continue reading! Terrain was the ‘whole package’ and I am sharing all about my stop there last week!

This summer we took a family road trip from Georgia to Massachusetts. And during the portion of the drive stretching from New York to Boston, I somehow managed to talk my sweet and supportive family into stopping at a store that I have always wanted to visit, Terrain. If you are not familiar with Terrain then you may not quite understand my excitement so let me share with you a little bit about the store.

Terrain is a fabulous garden and home store that offers seasonal items for ‘creative living, gathering, and gardening’. Just like their sister store Anthropology, Terrain is dedicated to creating interesting and artful areas and spaces throughout their store. Their attention to detail makes visiting their store an ‘experience’. When you walk inside the store you will see thoughtful and artful displays and vignettes all around you! Terrain carries things like:

• Garden & Outdoor: planters, garden utility, outdoor living
• Furniture: lounge & living, dinging, collections
• Plants & Flowers: fresh, dried & preserved, faux & metal
• Decor & Tabletop: decor, spa & wellness, kitchen & table

I visited the store location in Westport, Connecticut and it was definitely worth the stop. One of the things that stood out to me immediately was the fact that they used a wide variety of old pieces for their displays. I love it when stores do this because it really makes their staging very interesting. As you know, I love vintage and so many of the pieces they had in the store stood out to me! The old seed cabinet and the weathered blue cart were a few of my favorite old pieces that they had in this location. I also really loved this display box below that they used to showcase some of their live plants.

What I wasn’t prepared for was the wide variety of live plants that Terrain had sprinkled throughout the store. There were live plants all over the place, not just in the designated ‘plant area’ or the outdoor garden. The live plants throughout the store really made the entire place feel alive.

Above all, my very favorite display at Terrain had to be the one that I saw when I walked into the store area. It was a section in the store dedicated to mushrooms and if you have been following along with me for a bit on Insta then you know how much I have been loving mushrooms these days!

Because I had my whole family with me and because we were in the middle of a two week road trip, I was only able to spend about 20-30 minutes inside this magical store. But, even with that short amount of time I was able to really enjoy the store and take it all in. I was even able to find a few items that were small enough to take home with me. I bought:

• this beautiful teak mushroom
• this colorful iron mushroom
• this mushroom plate
• this ceramic planter

I wanted to buy up the whole store because everything was so beautiful but because our family of 5 was in the middle of a 2 week road trip – there just wasn’t room in the car to load up! But, the best thing is that 2 of my 4 purchases were on sale with an extra 30% off and I just looked at their website and they are running that sale online! I am so glad that I had the chance to stop in and visit this shop. I was able to grab some sweet goodies for my own home and I also left there with a lot of inspiration!
