Finding a Santa blow mold is pretty easy but what do you do when you find one at a great price that is missing his feet? Let me know you what I did!
Looking for a festive decoration that will get you in the Christmas spirit? I promise that a good Santa Blow Mold will do just that and brighten your holiday season! But, sometimes you find the perfect Santa blow mold that isn’t in the perfect condition. That is what happened to me this weekend! Come see what I found and how I ‘fixed” him!
Over the weekend I decided to swing by a local Christmas Market that was taking place on the football field of the a nearby high school. As soon as I stepped foot onto the field I noticed my friend Bracey’s booth and it was all decked out with vintage Christmas items! I ran right over to her, hugged her neck, I looked around and then scooped up this Santa Blow Mold.
This Santa blow mold is one that I have never seen before – and I have a lot of them. (You can click here to see just one of my blow mold displays from last year.) His face and beard stood out to me and I loved his size. I also liked that he was unique and seemed to be a more rare blow mold. (More on that later.) The only issue is that his feet were broken. But, I didn’t let that stop me from scooping him up! I knew that I could work around his broken feet and somehow style this Santa blow mold in a way that would hide his imperfections while also letting him shine.
I knew that I wanted to bring this Santa inside for the holidays so the very first thing I did when I got him home was to clean him up a bit. He had a layer of dirt and grime all over and so I got busy with a little dish soap and the outdoor water hose. I also used a toothbrush to get into some of the smaller grooves of his beard. Because his feet were basically missing, it made it very easy to clean ‘inside’ the blow mold as well. After a few minutes of scrubbing, he was all cleaned up and I popped him in the sun to dry a bit.
A Question Answered
As I mentioned above, I had not ever seen this santa blow mold before and I was so perplexed by him. I really wanted to know more about him, particularly his age and the maker. Usually, I can analyze the blow mold and gather information. (I actually wrote an entire blog post all about how to do that and you can click here to read it.) But, I wasn’t able to find very much embossed writing on this Santa. So, I went to my Instagram stories (you can follow me here on Instagram) and I asked a question there to my followers. I put a question box up and asked, “who knows anything about this Santa blow mold?”
Luckily, with the help of a some smart and amazing friends over on Instagram, I got my answer! I was reminded of a website called Blow.Molded.com. This site is like a blow mold directory of sorts and after a little bit of digging I discovered that this Jolly Giant Santa was from manufactured by Irwin during the 1960s-1970s. I also learned that this Santa came in another color scheme! How cool is that!
Time To Style Santa
After uncovering the details of this “new to me” Santa, I was ready to bring him into the house and get him all decorated for the holidays. Of course the main issue was figuring out a way to tastefully cover up those broken feet! After thinking about it for a moment, I decided to use an old wooden cheese box.
I knew that I would need to fill in that open space there inside the cheese box so I decided I would you tissue paper to fill the void and then cover the tissue paper with this moss. I also think that using something like this would be fun too but I only had the moss on hand!
Bringing My Jolly Santa Blow Mold Inside
After settling on this gorgeous cheese box and getting the height just right, I was ready to bring Santa inside! I decided to pop him into this cozy corner (for some added support). I also added in a few other Santas that I recently found within the last few weeks. I think they make a jolly gang!
Doesn’t he look happy and cozy right here in the corner?! And, you might not even have realized that his feet are broken if I had not mentioned it to you!

I love the idea of taking a broken piece that others may have passed up and creatively finding a way to give it a new life! I hope this inspires you to think outside of the box a bit the next time you come across a broken piece that still has charm and character! Peace to you all!
