Do you love the color blue? I sure do and I am sharing this simple vintage spring vignette featuring the most beautiful jar of all time!
Have you ever locked eyes with something and immediately KNOW? In that moment you just KNOW that you have found a very special piece that you have to have!
There have been many times when a vintage piece gas caught my eye … but every once in a while, there comes a time when you KNOW that the piece is coming home with you, no matter the cost.
That is what happened the moment that I saw this light blue stoneware jar.
I found this piece a few weeks ago while on a shopping trip a bit north of me in Tennessee. I was in an antique store and I just turned the corner and there it was. The moment I saw it I knew that it was to be mine. Not only was the powder blue color and the gorgeous flower perfect for spring. It also is crazed to perfection and wonderfully weathered in all the right ways. The best part is that I haven’t seen a piece like this before and I love finding new and interesting pieces that are new to me! The icing on the cake is that it was priced perfectly so I scooped that piece up as fast as I could.
When I got it home I did a little research to see if I could discover any information about it. Sadly I came up empty handed. It looks as if it would have had a lid of some sort and I wonder if it was a canister or a biscuit jar or a cookie jar. If you know any details about this piece then please let me know in the comments below!
I have been decorating for spring around the inside of our house for a few weeks now and I knew that I wanted to incorporate this piece as soon as I got it home. I got busy right away and am so happy with the way it all turned out. With that in mind, I wanted to share this simple vintage spring vignette with you all up close.
I decided I wanted to highlight the beautiful muted blue color of the old jar and I accomplished that only using additional pieces that were mostly neutral in color. I layered in a ton of crocks and bowls (I purposefully chose to use some that also had hints of the same beautiful blue) and I tried to make it more interesting by varying the heights of the surrounding pieces.
What I really like about creating an easy spring vignette like this is that you have the opportunity to layer in a ton of plants – and that is just what I did. The green plants tie it all together, don’t you think!
I decided at the last moment to add in a little “something extra” to my vignette. Can you spot it? The little blue gardening tool was the last piece I decided to add here. I was lucky enough to find it on the same shopping trip (after I found the blue jar) and I was so happy the moment I realized that the color would match up perfectly with the blue jar. Adding it here to this vignette helps to really make the entire space feel more like ‘spring’ in my opinion.
Here is a little Tip for you – use your lids! This is an old cheese box lid that I decided to use to fill in some of the blank space in this area. I wanted something that was very subtle and that wouldn’t detract from the blue crock. After racking my brain for a bit and after trying a few other pieces I settled on the cheese box lid – and I love it! The warm color of the wood enhances the space nicely without detracting from the beautiful blue jar! I encourage you to get creative when you can!!!!

Even though the nights are still chilly and the grass in our yard hasn’t greened up just yet, I can feel the warmth of spring gradually falling upon us and I know that it is almost here to stay. Like most of you, I just LONG for the warmer weather to be here for good and while we wait I will continue to create warm and cozy spaces in my home to tied me over.
I hope you found this little blue crock as charming as I did (the moment I saw it) and I hope that you too will continue to find pieces that immediately inspire you. I love the thrill of the hunt – especially when you are able to find cute vintage pieces just like this that fit perfectly into your home. Oh, and if you enjoyed this post you may also enjoy:

I love the entire vignette and especially the precious little blue pot. It really is the “star” of the show!
Could you please tell me what the plant with the cobalt flowers in the pot is? Thank you!

Love this, Emily. Just fantastic. Blue is my absolute favorite (specifically navy)- so I really love seeing how you’ve incorporated the blues into your display. Well done!! 👏
Have a great day,
