Looking for some fun new ways to add patriotic decor into your home? Here is my vintage patriotic kitchen cupboard to help get you inspired!
I sure do enjoy going all out with my patriotic decor and I like to do things a bit differently each year! This year I really enjoyed decorating my little white cupboard in the kitchen! I love to add seasonal touches in this particular space year round, but there is just something about the way it all came together this time around – I am in love!
Like so many of you I really do like to layer in reds and whites and blues during the summer. There is just something very moving and special about decorating our homes with our country’s colors. My family spends a lot of time in this area of our home so I like to add in seasonal touches in our kitchen to help make the space feel even more warm and cozy. This year I decided to decorate the left hand side of this double doored white chippy cabinet.
When I decorate a space like this, I usually will add in lots of different types of pieces. Here I obviously used some very specific, more traditional patriotic pieces (like this framed flag) but I also used a few non-traditional pieces that still looked to be ‘patriotic.’ For example, I chose to add in a mix of vintage spice tins (which are the perfect ‘subject matter’ for a kitchen cupboard) because they had the perfect patriotic colors. I also chose to add in that vintage cake carrier for the same reason! Those pops of red white and blue really stand out!
I also chose to add in a few very specific ‘kitchen pieces’ because of their graphics, like this Statue of Liberty tin picnic basket. As well as the tin canister with the eagle graphic which I think makes the perfect plant container!
One of the things that I was excited to find this year was this American Flag Pull Down. The pull down (also known as ‘flag bunting’) that you see hanging on the door there on the left looks very much like an actual flag, but it is not. You can click here to read all about the pull down! I actually ordered a pair of them this year and they are very long, 8 feet I believe. I feel they are good option to use for decorating when using a real flag is not appropriate.
I love standing in our kitchen and looking at this space. Immediately the bright pops of red, white, and blue stand out from across the room and it just warms my heart.
I searched the web in an effort to find some similar pieces that you could use to recreate this look. Like most of my vignettes, most of these pieces are indeed vintage and I can not always find the same exact pieces that I use. But, I did manage to find a few today! If you are interested in recreating this look then feel free to click on any of the images below to learn more about each piece.
I realize that there are many pieces here in this space. Do not feel like you have to have all of these pieces to pull off a similar look. I was able to accumulate all of these over time. You can always start small and you can also use any sort of red, white, and blue that you feel would look good in YOUR vintage patriotic kitchen cupboard. In the past I have used other old vintage pieces such as red/white/blue pyrex and salt/pepper shakers! (You can see other pieces that I have used around my house here.). And you don’t have to go all out either – sometimes just a few simple pieces perfectly placed can make just as big of an impact as a stuffed cupboard!
I really do like how this space all came together and I hope that this little vintage patriotic kitchen cupboard inspires you to jump right over to your very own kitchen cupboard to add in a few patriotic colors!
