You can not deny these little turkeys are a super fun way to decorate for the Thanksgiving. Come read all about my favorite vintage turkeys!
I wanted to quickly share a few of my very favorite vintage turkeys with you all today. These old birds just add so much charm to our Thanksgiving each and every year! I have here a collection of vintage turkey Salt and Pepper Shakers as well as vintage turkey Gurley Candles.
I have really been loving grouping my large collections all in one place and when I recently found this old shelf at a vintage market – I knew that it would be the very perfect place for my vintage turkey tribe!
I added in some straw and that served two purposes: it helped to ‘protect’ and ‘steady’ each turkey and it also helped to fill in any empty gaps.
Vintage Turkeys: Salt and Pepper Shakers
When it comes to the vintage salt and pepper shakers, I love to hunt for ones that have chippy paint – because I love time worn items and also because they tend to be a little less expensive! Also – I love that when you buy the vintage turkey salt and pepper shakers, you get ‘two for the price of one.’ I don’t usually display them together as a pair … so it really is like getting two different pieces to use for staging and vignettes!
Vintage Turkeys: Gurley Candles
I usually only buy vintage ‘Gurley/Tavern Brand” candles (you can read all about the history or the Gurley/Tavern brand here) and aside from Christmas, these turkeys are some of my favorites. These candles have a ‘look’ about them and if you take a moment to study ‘that look’ then you should be able to identify them easily when you are out shopping. Also, most of them will still have their label on the bottom. You can read the blog post that I linked above to see what that looks like if you need a little reminder!
I hope you enjoy these vintage turkeys as much as I do. You can create your very own vintage turkey tribe by shopping antique malls and markets or you can click the images below! Happy Turkey hunting my friends!

Hi Emily-I really love learning about all your vintage collections. Your passion for Pickin and collecting and the knowledge you share about it all is why I love following you. You probably already know this but I was reading about the Gurley candle company and several years ago VErmont Country store bought the molds to some of the original candles. Very cool. You can check them out on Vermont Country Stores web store. Doreen
