Sharing my kitchen counter fall decor in hopes that these easy tips help you give your kitchen counters a festive fall makeover!
When it comes to decorating for fall, there are so many quick and easy things you can do in a snap and I seem to usually start my fall decorating in the kitchen! I choose pieces with intention that are not only beautiful to me but that also warm up the countertops for the season! Come see a few of the pieces that I chose to use this year!
The leaves are turning, the air is crisp, and pumpkin spice everything is in full swing. If you’re like me, you love to decorate your home for the changing seasons. After all, what’s not to love about adding a few festive touches to make your house feel cozy and welcoming?
One of my favorite places to decorate for fall is the heart of the home – the kitchen. I love sprinkling my countertops with seasonal decorations that make me (and my family)smile every time we walk in the room. With that, let me share these simple and easy additions that I made to our countertops this season – if you like ‘subtle’ (and a vintage vive) then you’ll enjoy my kitchen counter fall decor this year!
By The Stove
One of my very favorite spots in my home is the kitchen and I am really fond of this particular view. I think that ‘s because of the old poplar cabinet which sits right on our counter that I added here to use as storage – a version of ‘open shelving’ if you will. In addition to filling it with everyday items, I also really do enjoy adding seasonal touches too!
You can see above that I added really small and subtle touches throughout. In this area I used some faux falls stems (see some of my favorites here) as well as some warm copper pieces!
Around the cabinet I added in a stack of our everyday dishes (click here to see our pattern up close) that we got as wedding gifts long ago and the basket full of apples there in the background is an easy and subtle nod to fall!
Under The Cabinets
On the opposite wall of our kitchen we have a larger amount of counter space. I tend to keep this area pretty minimal because this is where we take care of a lot of our food prep! However, this fall, I added a little extra than I normally do – and I am pleased with the outcome!
I added a few wooden pieces, such as the dough bowls and the cake stand, which add warmth to the space and then I added just a few pieces that I felt were seasonal, like the dishes and the little painting!
The sugar and creamer that you see here have an extra special meaning to me. These once belonged to my grandmother and now we use them here at home. Not only did I feel that the colors were perfect for fall but they just add that personal touch!
Fall Scents
I love love love adding the seasonal Mrs. Meyers cleaning supplies to the kitchen counters and this year I am was very happy to find the scent Fall Leaves. It’s the perfect scent for fall and I also love the pop of color on the labels as well! I also love adding fall candles on the counters as well and these are my very favorite fall scents! Scented candles are always a good idea, but they’re especially nice in the fall when temperatures start to drop and the evenings get shorter.
A Few Extra Ideas
- Gourds, gourds, and more gourds!
There’s no such thing as too many gourds when it comes to fall kitchen countertop decor. Smaller gourds can be displayed in bowls or baskets, while larger ones look great grouped together on a platter or cutting board. I used some this year in the kitchen area (not on the counters) in a hanging basket off of the garage door! - Add some greenery
Fall-themed potted plants are a great way to add some color and life to your kitchen counters. Potted herbs are especially nice this time of year as well —not only do they look pretty, but you can also use them in your cooking. I had some fresh dill in the kitchen a few weeks ago and before we used it, the beautiful yellow flowers added such a beautiful warm feeling in the kitchen. Win-win! - Get crafty with pumpkins
I do love the occasional pumpkin craft and as my kids will tell you, pumpkins aren’t just for carving—they also make beautiful fall decorations. Add a painted one to your counters or maybe even Mod Podge one. My favorite pumpkin DIY that I have ever done is linked here – and I think these would look great on the counters too! I challenge you to get creative and have fun! - Bring the outdoors in
Nothing says fall like a bouquet of fresh flowers from the garden or a vase filled with branches from the trees. Add a little bit of nature to your kitchen counters this season and you’ll be sure to get that cozy fall feeling. - Get Cozy with Textiles
Another great way to add some fall flair to your kitchen counters is by incorporating cozy textiles like dish towels or hot pads. I am loving these this season! Using textiles is a great way to not only add a pop of color but also soften up those counters as well! - Seasonal Mugs
I recently bought a few pumpkin mugs that I keep on the counters now as well. They are a smaller size which is nice and I love that they are both functional and festive!
Our Kitchen Details
Usually when I share our kitchen I will get questions about the details of our actual kitchen itself. We renovated our kitchen just last year and you can see all of our sources and products that we used right here.
